Biography: Dr. Mauro has eighteen years of professional experience in psychology and behavior analysis. He received his doctoral degree in psychology from Temple University, postdoctoral training in applied behavior analysis at the Biobehavioral Unit of the Children’s Seashore House, and served as a Research Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Mauro was a Psychologist at the Northern Virginia Training Center for over five years, serving individuals with developmental disabilities and mental retardation.Dr. Mauro is currently an Associate Professor of Applied Behavior Analysis in the Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism Program at The Sage Colleges. Dr. Mauro is also the Founder and current Executive Director of the behavior-analytic firm, Positive Behavioral Dynamics, LLC. He is a Licensed Applied Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D). He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Behavior Analysis, the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies, and the Virginia Psychological Association. Dr. Mauro has published behavioral research in prestigious scientific journals such as the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis (JABA) and the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (JEAB). He has presented numerous workshops and seminars on applied behavior analysis in the Northern Virginia and Maryland Capitol Region.Dr. Mauro is a strong consultative source on matters of functional assessment and treatment of challenging behavioral problems, especially for individuals with autism, developmental disabilities and mental retardation. He likewise has substantial experience developing, implementing and monitoring home-based and office-based ABA Programs for children with autism and related disorders. Dr. Mauro maintains an informed professional interest in the assessment and treatment of noncompliance, preference assessment and reinforcer identification, behavioral momentum, and a systems approach to parent training, skills generalization, treatment integrity, and behavioral reliability.
