Reflections

We reflect others who give to us
       without knowing for we
discover only through
       contemplative searching
the cupboards of our life-pieces
       kaleidoscopic parts in
flux of living-among the shards
       some jewels mounted in
upstretched, seeking arms of
       our beings.

Unfortunate, ironic, we cannot
       be aware of
giving to another's life
       what are the pieces
how are they re-formed in
       the life of the receiver
as that life-composition emerges
       into another being.

"Significant influences?" some ask
       in probing our texture
wondering how
       we became.
