Behavioral Technology Today

Instructions for Submission of Manuscripts

The Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies publishes Behavioral Technology Today in two forms: online at www.behavior.org and as a traditional hardcopy journal. On final acceptance, an article is published immediately online, as a downloadable, printable Adobe Acrobat portable document file (pdf). Eventually, hard copy of portions of the publication may be made available for archival and other forms of distribution.

Online articles in Behavioral Technology Today have the same status as their printed versions, with the same page and volume numbers, and may be cited in the same way.

In most cases, all steps in the review process are completed electronically. Authors should submit their manuscripts in the form of word-processed files (Microsoft WORD is preferred), as email attachments or on a disk. The reviewing process will be conducted by email. When the review and revision process is complete, the author(s) of an accepted MS will be notified by email and the paper will be posted as an Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file, in a private electronic galley proofs section of the Cambridge Center's website, www.behavior.org/proofs. The author may view and/or print the proofs of his article using Adobe Acrobat (available for free down-load if you do not already have it.) The author can submit suggestions for minor corrections at this time.

When the author has approved the proofs, the paper will be posted immediately in the publicly available journals section of the Cambridge Center website.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically, preferably as an attachment to an email message, to: technology@behavior.org.

If electronic submission is impossible, please mail the manuscript to Behavioral Technology Today, Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies, 336 Baker Avenue, Concord, MA 01742.

Format

The style of all manuscripts should follow the general style and usage guidelines in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Fourth Edition, (1994). Key requirements are as follows:

Instructions for preparing manuscripts for submission are available as an Adobe Portable Document (pdf) file. The Instructions.pdf document is itself formatted according to the instructions. If you have any questions about the formatting, you may simply look at the Instructions.pdf file to see what the document should look like.

The document is a PDF file View Instructions.pdf (   For information about PDF files and Adobe Acrobat®)

Contact the production manager at the Cambridge Center if you have any questions (telephone: 978-369-2227).

If you do not wish to download the Instructions.pdf file, you can view the Detailed Format Specifications as a webpage (although these instructions do not themselves represent an example of the desired format).

Assistance in Formatting Manuscripts

To help you format your article to conform to the instructions above, we have prepared Sample.doc, a standard Microsoft Word document which contains the proper formatting codes and styles used in the preparation of manuscripts. An easy way to use the appropriate styles in your manuscript is to replace the placeholder text in the Sample.doc document file with your own text. We encourage you to download Sample.doc to your computer.

Instructions for downloading Sample.doc:

Requests for the sample file and/or a template file may also be sent by email. Please note that stylesare used in the Microsoft Word sample document. Contact the production manager at the Cambridge Center if you have any questions (telephone: 978-369-2227).
